Glory2God: Jesus Loves His Sheep

You who belong to His flock knows His love and is one with Him in Spirit!

John 10:14-15 (GWT)
I am the good shepherd. I know my sheep as the Father knows me. My sheep know me as I know the Father. So I give my life for my sheep.

John 10:27-29 (GWT)
My sheep respond to my voice, and I know who they are. They follow me, and I give them eternal life. They will never be lost, and no one will tear them away from me. My Father, who gave them to me, is greater than everyone else, and no one can tear them away from my Father.

John 10:16 (GWT)
I also have other sheep that are not from this pen. I must lead them. They, too, will respond to my voice. So they will be one flock with one shepherd.

Luke 15:3-7 (GWT)
Jesus spoke to them using this illustration: “Suppose a man has 100 sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the 99 sheep grazing in the pasture and look for the lost sheep until he finds it? When he finds it, he’s happy. He puts that sheep on his shoulders and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says to them, ‘Let’s celebrate! I’ve found my lost sheep!’ I can guarantee that there will be more happiness in heaven over one person who turns to God and changes the way he thinks and acts than over 99 people who already have turned to God and have his approval.”

Prayer2Lord: Deliver My Soul, Lord

The words in this prayer are taken from Psalms. I pray for your deliverance in Jesus name, Amen!

Dear Lord, be gracious to me, O Lord. See my affliction from those who hate me. O Lord my God, in you do I take refuge; save me from all my pursuers and deliver me. Keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings, from the wicked who do me violence, my deadly enemies who surround me. Cast me not off; forsake me not, O God of my salvation! Contend, O Lord, with those who contend with me; fight against those who fight against me! Take hold of shield and buckler and rise for my help! Draw the spear and javelin against my pursuers! Say to my soul, “I am your salvation!” Vindicate me, O God, and defend my cause against an ungodly people, from the deceitful and unjust man deliver me! Hear my cry, O God, listen to my prayer; from the end of the earth I call to you when my heart is faint. When I walk in the midst of trouble, preserve my life, Lord. Stretch out your hand against the wrath of my enemies, and deliver me with your right hand. Look on my affliction and deliver me, for I do not forget your law. Lead me, O Lord, in your righteousness because of my enemies; make your way straight before me. Plead my cause and redeem me; give me life according to your promise. You are my hiding place and my shield; I hope in your word. Depart from me, you evildoers, that I may keep the commandments of my God. Lord, uphold me according to your promise, that I may live, and let me not be put to shame in my hope! Hold me up, that I may be safe and have regard for your statutes continually! Let your steadfast love comfort me according to your promise to your servant. Keep steady my steps according to your promise, and let no iniquity get dominion over me. Redeem me from man’s oppression, that I may keep your precepts. Make your face shine upon your servant, and teach me your statutes. Let your mercy come to me, that I may live; for your law is my delight. Let the insolent be put to shame, because they have wronged me with falsehood; as for me, I will meditate on your precepts. Let those who fear you turn to me, that they may know your testimonies. May my heart be blameless in your statutes that I may not be put to shame. In your steadfast love give me life, that I may keep the testimonies of your mouth. Let my cry come before you, O Lord; give me understanding according to your word! Let my plea come before you; deliver me according to your word. Let your hand be ready to help me, for I have chosen your precepts. I long for your salvation, O Lord, and your law is my delight. Let my soul live and praise you, and let your rules help me. My lips will pour forth praise, for you teach me your statutes. I will sing of your strength, I will sing aloud of your steadfast love in the morning. For you have been to me a fortress and a refuge in the day of my distress. O my Strength, I will sing praises to you, for you, O God, are my fortress, the God who shows me steadfast love. I shall behold your face in righteousness. I love you, O Lord, my strength. For by you I can run against a troop and by my God I can leap over a wall. I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart, I will recount all of your wonderful deeds. I will be glad and exult in you; I will sing praise to your name, O Most High. I give you thanks, O Lord, with my whole heart; before the gods I sing your praise; I bow down toward your holy temple and give thanks to your name for your steadfast love and your faithfulness, for you have exalted above all things your name and your word. On the day I call, strengthen my soul, O Lord. Fulfill your purpose for me; your steadfast love, O Lord endures forever. I call upon you Lord, who is worthy to be praised. You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore. In Jesus name, Amen.

Glory2God: Be Reconciled to God

God is calling all sinners to repent and turn from their ways to be reconciled to him through his Son Jesus Christ.

John 3:16-17
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him

Reflection: Embracing Imperfection

As I reflect back on my time drawing my artwork on the tote bags, I am often faced with the issue of imperfection. I don’t want to draw out of shape nor do I want to use the wrong colors or smear the canvas with ink accidentally, etc. It’s for God’s purpose; I don’t want to have a flaw. Such are the worries that run through my mind each time I do the artwork.

I have to believe that whatever that is of God’s will; nothing will ruin it. And every imperfection in his servant’s life is not of no value. Each part has value for His good purpose. And He will use our imperfections for His good purpose. The question is do we grow from the mistakes we make?

There is a difference between these two:
1. Make mistakes but continue to grow to perfection (small or big forward achievements)
2. Make mistakes, repeat and repeat and no growth (stay stunted or get worse)

The difference is the former becomes more and more like Christ.  Each mistake brings that person closer to the mark of perfection no matter how small that achievement is. God applauds such growth in his servants who are in Christ Jesus.

It’s important to remain focused on #1. I don’t mean you should make mistakes if you can avoid it; but what I am trying to say is if you do make a mistake; strive to learn from it and not repeat it. Grow towards perfection. By this I mean the perfection of Christ in us.

This is something I believe a lot of believers of Christ are struggling with. We want to present ourselves to God that we are perfect. We also want to present ourselves to the world as perfect servants of God. In the midst of all these good intentions; we can easily lose focus on what’s more important and should be in our hearts. We put so much pressure on ourselves that we freak out every time we make a mistake. God knows we are being perfected in Christ and He is a gracious and merciful God.

Proverbs 3:6
In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths

Trust in the Spirit of God to perfect you and others in Christ Jesus. Let the Holy Spirit guide you and others into all truth and help you and them step up in perfection.

Proverbs 3:11-12
My son, do not despise the Lord’s discipline or be weary of his reproof, for the Lord reproves him whom he loves, as a father the son in whom he delights

Dear Lord,
Help me die to my flesh more and more. Let your Holy Spirit rise within me to guide me into all truth and help me step up in perfection in Christ Jesus. In Jesus name, Amen.

Prayer2Lord: My Heart is Yours, Lord

The words in this prayer are from the scriptures and may they speak to your heart and soul. I pray for the Holy Spirit to rise within you more and more in Jesus name, Amen.

Dear Lord,

Help me pour out my heart like water in your presence, I believe your steadfast love never ceases, your mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning and great is your faithfulness. I trust in you Lord. You are my God. My times are in your hand. Make your face shine on your servant; save me in your steadfast love. Instruct and teach me in the way I should go; counsel me with your eye upon me. Set my feet upon a rock and make my steps secure. Help me keep sound wisdom and discretion so I will have life in my soul. Hide me in the shadow of your righteous wings and help me lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety. Lord make me like the tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season and its leaf does not wither; In all that I do, I prosper. For it is you who light my lamp; the Lord my God lightens my darkness. Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord my rock and my redeemer. My hope is in you. Deliever me from all my transgressions. Fill me with your light and truth; let them lead me; let them bring me to your holy hill and to your dwelling. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit. Have mercy on me, O God, according to your abundant mercy blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. Help me dwell in your tent forever. Help me guard my ways that I may not sin with my tongue. Help me guard my mouth with a muzzle in the presence of the wicked. In Jesus name, Amen.

Reflection: Tithing

As I was preparing food in the kitchen today; the issue of tithing came up in my mind. I started to ponder on how many people actually tithe for the right reason in Christiandom. And I started to look into my reasons for tithing as well.

In a lot of places you will find tithing is closely connected to receiving blessings from God. I feel tithing is for the purpose of building God’s kingdom in accordance to His will. And that should be the first thing we connect tithing to. We are assured God’s blessings through obedience to the Lord. It may not come in the package we want to see but it is there for us to grab for as long as we remain obedient to the Lord with all our heart, mind and soul. No doubt about that. It’s spelled out in the scriptures!

I’ve been tithing for more than a year now and I remember when I first tithed, I had little clue what it was all about. I know that was the norm in churches because I’ve been to church services before when I was a non Christian. So it was something that a Christian should do and that’s about it. And as I journey through Christiandom, I learnt to understand that if I tithe, God will surely bless me in his time. Though this has truth in it but what I have come to realize through learning more about God is that what matters to Him is our hearts. Are we tithing out of obligation, pressure or the idea of the candy of blessings that so many preachers preach about?

As I matured in Christ; I learnt to understand that my tithing would be for the sole purpose of building God’s kingdom and my tithing should come from my heart cheerfully. Although I understood that and practice that, I can’t help but realized that there was still a part of me that associated tithing with blessings first as I pondered deeper today in the kitchen! What a revelation! Time to ask Jesus to clean my heart out more!

So my brothers and sisters in Christ, why do you tithe? What’s in your heart? Come to God the right way with the right attitude in your heart and He will surely bless you abundantly.

Matthew 6:33
Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.
